The photos this Wi-Fi picture frame recreates look crisp with accurate colors. Some of the test photos looked a little washed out, though, which lowered its score a bit. Overall, our test photos looked good, and there is internal storage with this frame, which is not all that common in our digital picture frame reviews. You will likely store and organize your photo collection online with this frame, but the option for local storage is nice, especially for your favorites.

The Edge makes a great gift for someone who isn’t that technologically savvy. After initial setup, you can control a lot of this frame from a remote computer anywhere in the world. You can also control several Nixplay frames from one online account, which is not the case with many other wireless digital frames. You can add photos and choose the time for a frame to turn itself off, whether or not you are in the same time zone as the frame.

User Experience

The Edge outshines the other top two products in our wireless digital frame reviews with its motion sensor. Edge only shows pictures if it senses someone is in the room. That saves energy and just plain makes sense. There is no need to share slideshows with an empty room.

This electronic picture frame loses a little of its user-friendliness with its included stand, though. If you display this frame on a wall using the pre-drilled holes, you will not even notice, but a smaller, 8-inch model like the one we tested is more likely to end up on a desk. You just get the one viewing angle, because the stand is not adjustable. This is irritating, especially since the angle seems too close to 90 degrees. Also, the frame is pretty easy to knock loose from its stand, which could lead to a fall from countertop height.

Versatility

You can control many aspects of this frame from the online account, but it would be nice to have a few more choices. Some Wi-Fi digital photo frames allow you to choose from many different ways to transition between photos, but this one has just a handful. Other frames also offer more choices for the time spent displaying each photo. The Edge allows you to display a single photo for as little as five seconds or as long as 30 minutes. That sounds like a lot of flexibility, but some frames give you an option of displaying each photo for up to 24 hours.

The picture is not quite perfect with the Nixplay Edge, but it is really close. The ability to control and store your photo collection online is wonderful. CONS: There is no way to add more time to the toasting cycle once it has started.

The Cuisinart Touch to Toast Leverless is a solid automatic toaster, but it lacks some of the toasting functions included on more premium toasters.

The Cuisinart Touch to Toast Leverless is an automatic toaster that comes in two- and four-slice models. You start the toasting cycle by pressing the toasting control button on the side of the toaster, and the motorized lift lowers the bread inside to begin. The lift also raises the bread automatically when the toasting cycle is complete.

The Cuisinart Touch to Toast Leverless has a digital display with seven shade settings to provide consistent and precise browning. The LCD display doubles as a countdown timer, giving you a precise sense of how long is left on the toasting cycle. However, this type of control doesn’t provide you with much variety between the preset shade levels. If you want a shade different from a preset shade setting, you will have to press the cancel button mid-cycle.

Toaster: Smeg TSF01PGUS 50’s Retro Style

This toaster could get an award for the best-looking, but we also enjoyed the way the Smeg warms bagels. It looks great on the countertop and comes in a handful of colors, and it makes great toasted bagels. However, it didn’t test well when it came to toasting bread.
This device simply runs hot. After repeated use, it gets hotter and hotter. When you make multiple slices of toast back to back, the later ones become burned even though the settings haven’t changed. But on a low setting, this toaster makes great toasted bagels. In fact, it was better than all others in this category. Not only does the inside of the toaster get increasingly hot after multiple uses – so does the exterior. The external temperature reached 127.9 degrees Fahrenheit and was the second hottest toaster we tested. This is a bit of a safety concern when you’re reaching in to grab your toast. That said, if you eat more bagels than toast, you’ll want to consider this great-looking toaster.

The Waring WCT 708 is a four-slot toaster with a 5.5-foot cord, making it the easiest toaster to place on your counter.
This toaster is also one of the most expensive models we tested, and it has the least amount of features – a disappointing fact when cheaper models like the Dash Clear View outperformed it for less money. We really did like the fact that we could plug this toaster in and put it nearly anywhere on our testing counter. This is a great feature for cluttered counters with power outlets in odd places or kitchen islands. Fortunately, the cord is retractable, so it stays out of the way for storage.
